Specialist travel cover for amateur teams

Taking your passion for the game abroad? You’ll want to know your tour party is covered if things don’t go to plan. From cancellation to lost luggage, we’ve worked with the WRU to create rugby travel insurance that affiliated clubs in Wales can buy at special rates.

What’s covered?

This WRU-approved tours travel policy includes:

• Personal accident insurance if participants are seriously injured or die while they’re away.
• Medical and emergency travel expenses and assistance, including travel back to the UK for emergency treatment.
• 24/7 emergency and security assistance and expenses for life-threatening situations.
• Cancellation, curtailment, or change of itinerary that’s outside of your control.
• Personal baggage and money that’s lost, damaged, delayed, stolen, or destroyed.
• Travel documents, including lost or damaged passports and travel tickets during or shortly before the trip.
• Playing and training equipment, if it’s damaged, stolen, or destroyed, or lost. This can be owned by the club, the individual, or hired.
• Travel delay due to events like strikes, bad weather, or aircraft breakdown.
• Personal liability protection if someone on the trip is accused of injuring a third party (other than travel companions) or damaging their belongings.

Staying in the UK? 

If your team isn't touring abroad, this policy only covers cancellation and curtailment (trips cut short by unexpected events) and personal baggage. Emergency medical expenses aren’t included. 

Need to know

You’re only covered for cancellation or curtailment of the trip once your policy has started. So, even if you can’t confirm final numbers and your trip’s not for a while, it’s important to take this cover out ahead of time. You can update these details nearer your departure date.
