 Leigh Ferris Leigh Ferris, Executive Director, Professional Indemnity, Howden Insurance Brokers Ltd

Leigh brings over 30 years’ Professional Indemnity Insurance experience to bear for the benefit of our professional services firm clients both domestically and globally. Respected by the industry as a leader in the field of PII, Leigh works alongside his clients to deliver from both a coverage and market perspective. He has been closely involved in the 20-year evolution of our Professional Services practice group, one of the largest in the UK with over 350 PII specialists, as well as designing market leading Howden PII wordings for accountancy, legal and offshore practices. 


Henry Mowbray Henry Mowbray, Managing Director, Vantage Insurance

Henry is responsible for the management of insurance requirements for key corporate and high net worth clients. He holds ACII accreditation as a Chartered Insurer and Chartered Insurance Risk Manager, with over 20 years’ experience in the insurance and risk management industry.

Born in Guernsey, educated across Guernsey, Jersey and the UK, he worked in marketing and advertising before focussing on insurance. Starting with the captive insurance sector before moving to head up the insurance and business continuity function for an international optical retailer. Henry joined Vantage as Managing Director in 2022 to establish and run Vantage Insurance Brokers Limited in Guernsey. He is also an Executive Director for Vantage Insurance Brokers Limited in Jersey. 


Grant Mitchenall Grant Mitchenall, Head of Financial Products, Vantage Insurance

Over 40 years’ experience in the Lloyds, London and Offshore insurance markets.
In 2005 I relocated to Guernsey to focus more specifically on the Offshore marketplace and local entities needs and requirements. My focus has been the placement, design and marketing of Professional Indemnity, Directors and Officers and Crime products for Professional and Financial Services businesses.

Adam Garwood Adam Garwood, Client Services Director, IQ-EQ

Having spent over 35 years in the financial services industry, Adam has an impeccable track record in multi-jurisdictional client service. He works with ultra-high net worth families around the world to find the most secure financial structures.

Adam qualified with the Institute of Financial Services and is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). During eleven years with Lazard, six years with Deloitte, and latterly independent fiduciary services companies Sanne and Seymour, he specialised in UK non-domicile clients, Asian, CIS, and Indian families. Adam is a specialist in protective family office structures and dynastic planning and strongly believes in the value of long term relationships and goals within the wealth planning environment.

Since 2012 he has been recognised as a leading figure in the trust industry by Citywealth and included in the Trustee honours list. Adam was recently recognised by ‘Global Elite Recommends’ category within the directory, allowing lawyers to nominate their most highly-rated partners including accountants, asset managers, family offices and trustees.

Simon Hurry Simon Hurry, Partner, Jersey Dispute Resolution, Collas Crill

Simon is a Partner in our dispute resolution practice in Jersey. He specialises in high value commercial and trust litigation, enforcement and asset tracing and recovery (including the obtaining of urgent injunctive relief and trust 'busting'), and cross-border insolvency matters. He leads our contentious insolvency and restructuring department. He is a Jersey advocate and able to draw on multi-jurisdictional litigation and alternative dispute resolution experience, having spent a number of years in our Cayman Islands office. 

Simon has extensive experience in dispute resolution matters and has been involved in some of the Island's largest and most complex cases, most recently in the Privy Council in the Z Trusts saga. He frequently appears before the Jersey courts at all levels and is regularly instructed to act for large onshore firms in complex cross-jurisdictional matters with a Jersey element and to advise office holders, boards of companies, creditors and shareholders.

Simon's reputation as a leader in his respective fields continues to grow. He has been praised for his strong technical skills, attention to detail and for having a 'real world' approach to the law. 

Adam Craggs Adam Craggs, Partner, Tax Disputes, Regulatory and Financial Crime, RPC

Heading up RPC's Tax Disputes, Regulatory and Financial Crime team, Adam has over 30 years' experience in contentious tax and white-collar crime. Adam advises on a wide range of contentious issues, including HMRC enquiries and white collar crime investigations. Adam also advises clients on how to manage risk and implement robust governance consistent with the OECD recommendations for responsible business conduct in a global context. Adam is the co-author of Tolley's 'A Practical Guide to Tax Appeals' and the author of a number of guidance notes written for Tolley's 'Online Guidance' and PLC on criminal prosecutions for tax fraud.
 
Adam has been recognised in the leading directories.  In Chambers and Partners UK 2023 Adam has been ranked in Tax: Contentious Fraud and Tax: Contentious.


Michelle Sloane Michelle Sloane, Partner, Tax Disputes, Regulatory and Financial Crime, RPC. 

Michelle is an experienced regulatory lawyer specialising in tax disputes, regulatory investigations and financial crime. Michelle acts for a broad range of clients from FTSE100 companies and HNW individuals to SMEs. Michelle advises those facing criminal investigations and assists clients manage urgent issues such as "dawn raids" and arrest.  Before moving to the UK in 2006, Michelle worked for the New Zealand government as a tax investigator and legal adviser to the tax investigations team where she gained valuable insight into the decision making process of revenue authorities.
 
Michelle is a committee member of the Fraud Lawyers Association, a member of the Female Fraud Forum and sits on the Gold Group of HMRCs Tax Crime Alliance.
 
Michelle has been recognised in the leading directories.  In Chambers and Partners UK 2023 Michelle has been ranked in Tax: Contentious Fraud and as a Next Generation Partner for Customs and Excise and Tax Litigation and Investigations by The Legal 500 UK.

Colin Taylor, Divisional Director within Howden's Financial Lines Group was recently awarded ‘Risk Management Champion’ at the prestigious 2022 CIR Magazine Risk Management Awards.

His unique approach to risk management training and his detailed knowledge of Professional Indemnity Insurance and behavioural risk management has been invaluable to many of our clients over many years.

Nigel Brand Nigel Brand, Group CUO & CEO (Guernsey), Spring Insure

Nigel Brand helped establish the team in Guernsey back in 2013 and has played a key role in Spring Insure's sustained success in the region.

He’s worked in the insurance industry for coming up to four decades. Nigel’s held a number of senior underwriting roles across our sectors and has a real knack for quickly getting underneath the financial structures of the types of organisations we underwrite for.

Nigel regularly re-evaluates the strategy of the business to make sure it’s always improving. And he strongly believes that research, development and analysis of risk are the three pillars behind innovation and profitability.


Julian Brown Julian Brown, Senior Underwriter, Markel International

Julian is a Senior Underwriter in the Financial Institutions team at Markel International. He has over 30 years of experience underwriting professional indemnity, crime and D&O insurances for a diverse variety of financial entities. He heads up Markel’s Offshore Account and leads the insurance programmes for a number of the larger corporate service providers, fund administrators and trust companies. 


Anna Jay Anna Jay, Head of Professional Liability, Mosaic Underwriting

Anna oversees the professional liability division at Mosaic, a global portfolio of professional Indemnity, D&O and healthcare. She has 20 years’ experience working across the specialty sector, with a core focus on professional liability. Her career in the London market began as a specialist-placing broker, before moving to underwriting. She spent 12 years at QBE International Syndicate 386 followed by 5 years at Lloyd’s syndicate Pembroke Syndicate 4000 as divisional director of professional lines before joining Mosaic in 2021.
