Benefits of arranging Dental Indemnity with Howden
Apart from supporting and protecting you professionally and financially, Howden's Dental Indemnity insurance is contractual which means it is guaranteed and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Unlike discretionary covers from other providers like MDOs (Medical Defence Organisations), our cover guarantees support and financial pay outs that result from any claims made relating to the specified terms.
We also offer you the ability to pay the cost of your premium over 12 equal instalments without any interest charge.
We know that insurance cannot be ‘one size fits all’, which is why our offering is tailored to you and can adapt with you throughout your career. What is more, we have built a safety net into our cover for peace of mind when switching providers so you don't have to worry about potential gaps for exposure.
We can also help you with Dental Practice Insurance
There are many various risk exposures that surround your dental practice on a daily basis. Having a plan in place will help with damage-control in case of many possible incidents.
“After being let down by my previous indemnity provider I was forced to look for a new insurer. After a long search I found Mark and James at Howden Insurance brokers.
I felt reassured from the very first phone call and from then I knew I was in safe hands. No question I asked went unanswered and all my emails were replied to promptly. They were able to provide dental insurance at a competitive price and one that was able to offer backdated cover which other insurers I have spoken to were not.
Unlike my previous provider, Howden could provide insurance that was not discretionary so I can put my mind at ease knowing that I will always be supported when I need it. Great service and would not hesitate to recommend James and Mark to anyone.”
“The Howden dental indemnity insurance was recommended to me by a colleague.
In addition to my indemnity cover, I also found the access to employment advice and a 24/7 medico-legal helpline truly valuable. What's more, all of this is offered at a really affordable price.
I am extremely grateful to Howden for their great service and I strongly recommend them.”
“It's been a refreshing experience to finally work with an insurer who understands modern dentistry and has created policies to best support these new practices. Having been qualified for 30 years and spent over 12 years involved with postgraduate education, I am all too familiar with the challenges faced by a new generation of dentists who carry greater risks.
The potential for reputational and financial damage is more than it's ever been. It is comforting to work with a broker who offers tailored policies that suit the way I practice. I have peace of mind that I will be supported should the unexpected happen.”
All of our insurers are A-rated, backed by Lloyds of London and have longstanding experience working with dentists and the medical profession.
We provide access to specialist PR assistance as part of your Howden policy, who will help to maintain you reputation in the event of an allegation or claim made against you.
Your dental insurance premiums will be based on your work split, earnings, and claims history. We will create a tailored insurance policy that meets your needs and so you don't pay for more than you need to.
Claims may have an effect on you premium. As your broker, we will try to minimise the impact of any claim, and Insurers will take into account any action taken to mitigate the loss and the likelihood of this being a recurring issue. Any increase will however relate specifically to the facts of that claim and any payment made.
If a complaint is made against you, then Insurers will consider the specific facts of the complaint. It is fully appreciated that complaints can be made even when quality of practice has been satisfactory. In some cases, the complaint is an attempt to dispute the dentist's fees.
If you have been unfortunate enough to have suffered claims in the past, that need not stop you from accessing reasonably priced insurance. We work with a wide range of insurers, several of which are open to covering dentists who have previous claims history. As long as you are open and transparent with us, we can usually help.
No. As a broker, Howden act on behalf of you, the dentist. We are able to provide guidance or advice as and when required, and will advise you as to what needs to be raised with Insurers. Insurers commend individuals who are risk adverse and raise issues with their broker or medico-legal helpline before they become a serious problem.
The insurers on Howden’s panel are large A-rated insurers who only work with top medico-legal advisors and large specialist law firms. These law firms will always advise insurers on the merits of each claim and the likely costs involved to defend them. Howden have an in-house specialist claims department who monitor claims and are able to act on your behalf to ensure that your interests are properly represented.
