Protection for your swimming activities
Swim England members are given insurance cover as part of their membership. This includes affiliated members, teachers and coaches, officials and clubs.
Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance
This policy gives members protection if they are held responsible or are found to be negligent for causing injury to someone else or damage to someone's property whilst taking part in swimming, diving and other aquatic activities recognised by Swim England.
Recognised club activities you are covered for include:
- Training for and competitive swimming, including open water swimming, polo or diving
- Social events
- Fund raising
- Administrative activities
This policy covers you for:
- Permanent total disablement from any gainful employment or gainful occupation for which the insured person is fitted for by education training or knowledge. A percentage shall be applied to the limit per person under permanent total disablement for some injuries and details are included with the Club Summary of Insurance Cover provided annually - £30,000
- Death - £5,000
- Loss of two or more limbs or both eyes or one of each - £30,000
- Loss of one limb or eye - £30,000
- Permanent and total loss of speech - £30,000
- Permanent and total loss of hearing in both ears - £30,000
- Permanent and total loss of hearing in one ear - £7,500
- Medical Expenses necessarily incurred in the Treatment of the Insured person - £100
- Dental Benefits (subject to a £50 excess) - £1,000
- Broken bones - up to £500 per insured person. Special definitions applying to the broken bones extension:
- Breach in the structure of the bones other than hairline fractures as a result of bodily injury following an accident which necessitates treatment by plaster cast of one or more of the bones listed below:
- Arm (humerus, radius, ulna, carpals) - £100
- Leg (femur, tibia, fibula, metatarsals, tarsals, patella) - £200
- Of the clavicle - £200
- Of the skull - £200
- Breach in the structure of the bones other than hairline fractures as a result of bodily injury following an accident which necessitates treatment by plaster cast of one or more of the bones listed below:
- Optical expenses - up to £1,000 (if during the operative time the insured person sustains bodily injury following an accident which within two years is the sole and independent cause of the incurring of optical expenses the company will pay up to a maximum of £1,000 any one insured person)
Other special extensions apply and these are detailed in the policy document available to clubs and listed on the clubs summary of insurance provided annually.
The club/member must provide written notification within 90 days of the occurring of any accident, event or circumstance which may give rise to a claim under the Personal Accident policy.
Limitations:
- Benefits for persons aged 70 to 85 are limited to death, loss of limbs or eyes
- Dental expenses are reduced by 50% for those aged 70 and over
