Swim England Clubs
Expert cover for your club and its members
As a club, you have a duty of care to all those taking part in activities and visitors.
Incidents happen. That's why all sports organisations need to ensure they have appropriate insurance protection. Without it, individuals can be held personally financially liable to compensate for losses for which you do not hold valid insurance.
Combined Liability cover is available for all clubs registered with Swim England whilst taking part in activities sanctioned by the club. This protects the club, affiliated members, teachers, coaches, and officials if they are held responsible or are found to be negligent for causing injury to someone else or damage to someone's property whilst taking part in swimming, diving and other aquatic activities recognised by Swim England.
Combined Liability cover includes
Public Liability & Professional Indemnity insurance
This protects the club and its committee and members against a claim made against you following loss, damage or injury to someone else or their property up to a maximum limit of £20 million.
Employers Liability insurance
Employers Liability is a legal requirement for any club that employs people paid or unpaid. This covers the club and committee if they are held liable for an injury sustained by an employee or volunteer while they are working for the club. The maximum limit of cover is £10 million (limited to £5 million in terrorism cases).
Director's & Officer's insurance
This covers club committee members and directors for their personal liability for any claims that are made against them for breach of duty.
The maximum policy limit for this cover is:
- Directors and Officers - £20 million any one claim or per policy year
- Corporate Legal Liability - £5 million any one claim or per policy year
Examples of breach of duty include:
- Mismanagement of club finances
- Breach of fire safety regulations

Club Legal Advice and Expenses
This gives the club committee and directors help to manage their legal responsibilities at the club, with access to legal helplines on matters of European law.
It is essential that you obtain advice from DAS before you act to ensure that you do not prejudice your defence. If DAS have not been contacted prior to your action, they are unlikely to support the claim.
The cover also extends to provide legal expenses for certain matters, including:
- Employment Disputes and Awards
- Legal Defence
- Property Protection
- Bodily Injury
