Cover for your coaching and officiating
Basketball England coaches and officials are given insurance cover as part of their membership.
You have a duty of care and a responsibility to ensure you do not cause injury or financial loss to others or damage to their property. If you do cause injury, financial loss or damage, you could become legally liable to pay compensation.
Your cover protects you with the following
- Public liability - £10 million limit of indemnity
- Professional indemnity - £5 million limit of indemnity
When does cover apply?
You are covered as a coach when you are coaching at a Basketball England affiliated club, directly on behalf of the association, or on a freelance basis.
Personal accident insurance
As a coach or official, your membership benefits include personal accident insurance to provide you with a 'no fault' benefit in the event you are injured whilst taking part in your sport.
Details of your insurance benefits are:
- Death - £25,000
- Permanent loss of sight/hearing - £25,000
- Permanent total disablement - £25,000
- Coma benefit - £50 per full 24 hours up to a maximum 104 weeks
- Hospitalisation - £50 per full 24 hours up to a maximum 104 weeks
- Dental - up to £500
- Optical - up to £500
- Accidental medical expenses
