The third-party liability insurance protects your interests against unforeseen events, covering damages or liabilities related to goods entrusted to carriers.

You can offer any customer who chooses to transport their goods through your intermediary the benefit of your third-party carrier insurance for a fee that you pass on to your customer, their goods are then insured against transport-related risks.

  • Specific damages (loss of quality or quantity, wetting due to a transport event, general damage and war risks.
  • The "All risks" guarantee covers material damage and loss to your customer's goods, subject to exclusions and limitations.
  • The warranty "DPF except" is limited to certain events, such as material damage to goods caused by shipwreck or fire. Goods loaded on deck may also be insured in the event of being thrown overboard.

In addition, you can subscribe to additional guarantees, in order to cover for example damages resulting from temperature influence, delay, customs inspection or trip interruption.

If you are a freight forwarder, as part of your duty to advise, you must offer third-party shipper insurance to your clients. Please make sure to clearly explain to your client the extent of coverage provided by this insurance so that they can clearly analyze the risks covered in case of damage.

This insurance protects your liability, insurers waive all recourse against you in case of damage to the goods (except for intentional gross negligence or fraud on your part).

Jean-Baptiste graduated from EDHEC Business School with an MSc in Strategy and Organization. After an initial experience at Gan Patrimoine (a subsidiary of Groupama) in personal insurance, he worked for four years in Italy for an insurance captive of the Crédit Agricole group to develop its activity and partnerships. Upon his return to France, he joined the underwriting department of AXA XL (formerly AXA CS) to lead development and innovation projects before integrating the marine cargo underwriting team in France, of which he became responsible in 2020.

Currently serving as Director of the Maritime and Transport Product Line and General Manager of Howden Marine France, Jean-Baptiste is responsible for developing Maritime and Transport solutions, which are one of the pillars of Howden in France. Howden Marine in France is built on the historical foundations of Guian, superbly developed with Seasecure under the direction of Jean Brossollet, with Jean-Baptiste succeeding him.
