Motor Fleet
Experts in Motor Fleet insurance for over 30 years, we cover your risks with the best conditions on the market and relieve you of the operational part of your management.
Short or medium-term rental
We guarantee exceptional risks that may endanger your business. This includes risks of bodily accidents, as well as fires (on site and elsewhere) and all natural disasters (storms, hurricanes, floods, hail, etc.).
The basic package of guarantees is as follows:
- Civil liability
- Advance on appeal
- Fire explosions
- Natural events
- Natural disasters
- Vehicles transported on trucks
- Driver personal protection
Damage all-risk and theft guarantees are offered as options and accessible at your fingertips. Depending on the value of your vehicle, you can choose between 4 levels of deductibles. The higher the deductible, the less expensive the Damage All Risk and Theft option is. These options are even more interesting in insurance guarantee customizations that you can offer to your LLD prospects.

The number of claims (accidents involving property and personal injury) remains stable overall, and is even falling slightly. However, several external factors are contributing to an increase in the average cost of claims. These factors include the rising value of vehicles, increased repair costs, the cost of bodily injury, and the increasing frequency and severity of natural events.

Frequently asked questions
We tailor claims reporting procedures to suit your organization and your different fleets (statutory vehicles, pool vehicles, machines, trucks).
To do this, you can report damage to your fleet vehicles via our extranet tool, our web app, but also by e-mail with a dedicated address or even by telephone.
Each new vehicle must be integrated into your fleet and declared to Howden, so that we can update your fleet with regard to both your insurer and the Insured Vehicle File.
For this, as for claims reporting, your fleet managers can manage their vehicle additions in total autonomy via our extranet.
This is a simplification measure.
Until March 31, 2024, a policyholder can be fined for forgetting to replace the sticker on his windscreen, or for forgetting to carry his valid green card, even though he is fully compliant with his insurance obligation. However, a green card or sticker can be facially valid without the vehicle being insured, notably because the contract can be cancelled during the year.
This novelty is also part of a more global approach to reducing insurers' carbon footprint: it is estimated that the ecological cost of printing and mailing green cards (for around 50 million documents that will no longer need to be printed) is 1,200 tonnes of CO2, generating an estimated saving of €60 million.
Supervised driving is covered by your fleet contract, and your fleet managers can fill in and print out the accompanied driving certificates to provide to their personal insurers.
MLVs (Motorized land Vehicles) are defined by article L211-1 of the French Insurance Code (which incorporates Council Directive 72/166/EEC of April 24, 1972) as: “any self-propelled vehicle intended to travel on the ground and which can be driven by mechanical power without being connected to a track, as well as any trailer, even if not coupled”.
Examples of MLVs (whether or not subject to registration): cars, trucks, motorcycles, off-road motorcycles, quads, mopeds, solexes, farm tractors, harvesters, tillers, gyro-shredders, trailers, construction equipment, runway groomers, forklifts, ride-on mowers, electric scooters, gyropods, Hoverboards, monoroues, etc.
A certificate of insurance will continue to be issued automatically by HOWDEN for unregistered vehicles subject to compulsory insurance.
These include (but are not limited to) :
- MPTD (motorized personal transportation devices) e.g.: electric scooters, speedbikes, gyropodes, Hoverboards.
- All machines (e.g. category 2 construction machines) defined as motorized land vehicles, e.g. dumpers, compactors, backhoe loaders, loaders, scrapers, excavators, graders, tire or crawler cranes, rollers, bulldozers, etc...
This certificate will be based on the same model as your previous green card, and will contain the same information, but will be white in color. This is the document you need to present to the police if you are required to take out insurance in France.
HOWDEN will send you a personalized document, in paper or electronic form, called the “Insured Vehicle Memo”, which contains all the information you need to complete an accident report. You can also obtain this document via your usual extranet access.
Unlike the green card, this document will not have a validity period, so it will not be sent out every year, as your green cards used to be.
This document will include the following mandatory data:
- Name and address of the insurance company
- Last name, first names and address of the policyholder
- Policy number
- Date of issue of document
- Effective date of cover
- Vehicle registration number
- Vehicle make and model
- If the contract covers both a vehicle and its trailers and semi-trailers[1], the type of trailer and semi-trailer.
- Where applicable, a statement to the effect that the vehicle is used for the private transport of passengers for hire or reward.
This document will also include a link to the public website https://www.fva-assurance.fr/ and the voice server number 01 83 64 32 22.
