NRL - How to make a claim

Personal Accident

If you are a member of the NRL and you have suffered an injury whilst participating in an NRL related activity (including training, competing, official social event, fundraising activity or other sanctioned activity) please follow the steps below to lodge a Personal Accident claim.

How to make a Personal Accident claim

  1. Lodge your NRL claim via the online portal by following this link.
  2. Sportscover will email you via the email address listed on this online form, the forms you need to complete to claim and a copy of the Policy Schedule, Policy Wording and Sportscover’s Frequently Asked Questions Document within 3 business days.
  3. You will then be required to complete the forms and return to Sportscover as soon as you can and preferably within 120 days from the accident date (this a guideline).
  4. Your Claim(s) will be entered onto the Insurer’s system within 10 business days of them receiving completed claim forms. You will be issued with a claim number as well as being and advised of the name of your claim’s assessor.

From this point, you can deal directly with their assigned claims consultant. Sportscover will endeavour to respond to a claim’s request or further information you have provided within 10 business days.

A claim is settled for your Non-Medicare Medical Expenses when one of the following events has occurred (generally, this should be within 2 to 4 weeks from notification):

  • treatment is complete, and the claimant can return to participating in the sport and Sportscover has been notified of this in writing; or
  • 12 months has passed from the date of accident, as the Policy can only provide coverage for a 12 months period from the date of accident; or
  • the Benefit payable for Non-Medicare Medical Expenses is greater than the Maximum Benefit Payable once the Policy conditions and percentages have been applied

For a lost wages claim, Sportscover will provide a benefit monthly in arrears up to the time a claimant can return to work, so long as all information has been provided to assess a lost wages claim. i.e. Details of Employment form completed, TFN or ABN number, and/or current and up to date medical certificates.
