FAQ's for clubs
Cover is obtained through affiliation with your state or territory tennis Member Association. Each Member Association has their own unique membership structure and you should discuss with your local Member Association to determine which option is right for you.
Under the national program, if your affiliation with your state or territory tennis Member Association includes insurance coverage, your club will have cover for Sports Injury / Personal Accident, Combined Liability (Public & Products Liability and Professional Indemnity) and Management Liability.
If your club is hosting complementary formats that are secondary to the primary Tennis activities, they are covered. In the event you are seeking coverage for stand alone complementary venues, please contact Howden or your local Member Association to discuss further.
Club fundraising activities are automatically covered under the National Insurance Program subject to policy terms and conditions.
If alcohol, 4WD rallies, jumping castles, water sports, aircraft, fireworks, livestock, rides of any kind, large crowds or events involving security personnel are involved please contact your dedicated Howden broker as these activities will need to be disclosed to the Insurer and coverage confirmed.
Yes these players are provided coverage under the Personal Accident program. It is important to note that clubs keep a record of guest players in order to ensure confirmation of their presence on the court in the event of a claim.

Yes, a member has cover Australia Wide.
Yes, but only if you are playing at an affiliated club/venue.
Non-Medicare benefits include private hospital accommodation, Dental, Physiotherapy, Chiropractor and Osteopath.
Common examples of Medicare items not claimable under the policy include Doctor/General Practitioner fees, public hospital admission and accommodation, surgical fees, X-rays and Anaesthetist fees.
MRI scans are typically covered by Medicare, however, please check with your treating Doctor as in some cases, the provider may not be registered with Medicare.
The Health Insurance Act 1973 (Cth) does not permit Tennis Australia’s insurer to contribute to any charges covered, or partially covered by Medicare.
Sometimes, your doctor, specialist or surgeon may charge more than the Medicare rebate for services. This may leave you with out-of-pocket expenses which are commonly referred to as the “Medicare Gap”. Please note the Medicare Gap is not covered under the Personal Accident Insurance Program.
There is a weekly injury benefit on the policy of up to $500 per week subject to persons who were engaged in their full-time occupation up to the time of their injury.
The maximum weekly injury benefit period is 26 weeks.
There is a 14 day waiting period on all loss of income claims in accordance with the policy terms and conditions.
Yes, the two policies will work together. You need to lodge a claim with your private health insurer first, then submit your claim via the Insurer. Costs that exceed your private health cover may be insured via the Tennis Australia policy. We suggest you contact Howden on 1300 219 461 for further details.
Yes, you are required to pay for your medical expenses upfront. Please ensure that you keep all receipts for these expenses to include within your claim submission. Upon approval of your claim, you will be reimbursed.
We recommend lodging a claim as soon as possible post injury to expedite the reimbursement process and facilitate your rehabilitation. Upon submission, the insurer will issue a claim number. This number will be used for the ongoing reimbursement of funds as expenses are incurred for the injury.
There is no limit on when to lodge a claim however any treatment rendered necessary by injury must be completed within 12 calendar months from the date of such injury occurring for expenses to be covered.

Your registration as a Tennis Australia coach member automatically provides you with cover for Sports Injury Personal Accident, Combined Liability (Public & Products Liability and Professional Indemnity), Management Liability and for “Business Member” TA Coach Members only, General Property insurance.
Coaching tennis at privately owned, hired, leased, rented courts or school facilities. This includes the organising, managing and conducting of tennis programs or training sessions. Cover also extends to physical and mental aspects of tennis training.
Yes, coverage extends for Off-Court activities, so long as those activities are incidental to tennis coaching.
No, this needs to be arranged separately for your coaching business outside of the National Insurance Program.
Your certificate of currency displays the dates 30 September – 30 September because that is the period of insurance.
No. You need to renew your coach membership on time to maintain your insurance coverage.
You are covered throughout your TA coach membership year. However, you will need to download a new Certificate of Currency after 1 October. The TA Coach Membership team will reach out to you in September to provide you with more information and instructions on how to download your new Certificate of Currency. Note that you will only be covered whilst a current and financial TA Coach Member.
No. You must maintain your status as a current and financial TA Coach Member to secure the benefits of insurance coverage.

Your assistant (trainee) coaches will only be covered by your insurance if they are a TA Coach Member as well. Please contact TA Coach Membership team to discuss membership options for your assistant (trainee) coaches.
Your business can be named on your coaches cover but coverage under this program only extends to cover your business for activities of 'tennis coaching'. If your business is involved in anything other than tennis coaching, these activities and any resultant claim would not be picked up under this program.
You should sign up to the “Business Member” category of TA Coach Membership.
Tennis Australia affiliated coaches have coverage for unspecified tennis equipment which is used as part of their coaching activities. Each coach is covered for up to $5,000 worth of equipment.
You can claim for damaged equipment excluding flood damage subject to policy terms and conditions.
You are eligible to lodge a claim for your stolen tennis equipment, including accessories or carrying cases, if the theft occurs from a securely locked building or vehicle.
Please note that claims are excluded in cases where there is no evidence of forcible and violent entry into the locked premises or vehicle.
Yes, cover is in place to provide cover for an affiliated coach travelling overseas for no longer than 21 days.
