Wallace McLean comes under the Howden brand and announces new CEO for Howden Broking New Zealand

7 December, 2023, Auckland – Howden, the global insurance group, today announces that Wallace McLean, recently acquired in July 2022, will now be using the Howden brand as it brings together its New Zealand broking operations.

Howden has finalised the full integration of Wallace McLean into the Howden business, which culminated in all operations moving into the new Auckland premises.

Along with the change in brand and the integration of Wallace McLean into the Howden business, Howden is also excited to announce that Nigel Wallace will be taking on the role of CEO for Howden Broking in New Zealand which will include both the Wallace McLean business and the original Howden Broking team. This role will report directly through to Howden Pacific CEO, Matt Bacon.

René Hattingh will be moving to the role of Head of Technical Delivery, initially concentrating on servicing clients in the scheme and affinity space and reporting directly to Wallace.

Matt Bacon commented: “Bringing organisations together, however large or small is rarely straight forward and always needs to be approached delicately, taking account of the unique attributes each organisation inevitably possesses. That is exactly what we have done here, and I am very comfortable that with this integration, the team really are set up for even greater success into the future.”

Matt continued: “I am hugely excited by what I know we can and will do in New Zealand in the coming months and years. This new Howden Broking business, aligned with our recent acquisition of Apex, plus the existing Howden Care business and the ex-Gallagher Basset talent, really does show how committed we are to the New Zealand market. What’s really exciting of course is that we’ve only just started!”
