Resilience through better business intelligence

Insight-driven protection tailored to you

Casualty risk is often volatile. Changes in exposure, M&A, claims trends, litigation, compliance and contractual requirements, and shifting market conditions can all change how much protection an organization needs and how its program should be structured.

For many organizations, the challenges are understanding where liability exposure is growing or changing, emerging risk and market trends, and whether the current program still reflects the company’s risk appetite and financial goals.

Howden’s US casualty practice helps businesses bring clearer intelligence to those decisions. We deploy top flight brokers with deep market insight, analytics, innovative and proprietary products and strategic carrier relationships to help you evaluate your options and build casualty programs to meet your needs and financial objectives now and in the future.

Market intelligence

Finding the right casualty insurance demands a deep understanding of casualty trends, program structures, negotiations, and data analysis. And this must be backed by a sophisticated approach to gathering and interpreting intelligence from multiple sources.

Our casualty team, led by industry veterans with decades of hands-on experience, actively monitors regulatory changes, emerging risks, and economic shifts that impact liability exposures. This enables us to anticipate challenges and opportunities for you ahead of time, putting you on the front foot to mitigate risk.

Advanced analytics

We partner closely with our actuarial team to develop detailed analytical models that allow us to approach underwriters with data-driven insights — positioning Howden to drive the placement process proactively on behalf of our clients. This analytical foundation strengthens our negotiating position, enabling us to advocate more effectively for you.

Strategic carrier relationships

Our global market presence, with more than $50 billion of premium placed worldwide, gives us strong relationships with the carrier community at every level from the most senior executives down to day-to-day underwriters.  Our leadership team have decades of experience negotiating the most pressing client concerns at the highest levels. This clout in the marketplace both as leaders and as a firm matters – it matters in resolving a complex claim as much or more than getting the most responsive placement terms and service.  But negotiating power is only as valuable as how it is used — we deploy these relationships in service of our clients, not in deference to our carriers. Our allegiance is to our clients, and that distinction shapes every negotiation, every term, and every recommendation we make. The result is a broker that moves quickly to secure competitive terms reflective of your risk profile and objectives, with your interests as the sole measure of success.

What Howden’s casualty insurance and risk financing solutions deliver

Clarity to evaluate program structure, collateral, and total cost of risk

Our mission is to deliver much more than insurance. We provide strategic insight, backed by world-class data, and a talented and dedicated broker that fights for your best interests in order to protect your brand and financial position against volatility and minimize costs.

Our casualty practice operates as a single collaborative and unified team for all casualty related products and risk financing — organized around the capabilities that matter most to complex casualty clients, rather than by geography. Our deep cross-sector experience and expertise means we can better understand clients’ exposure and negotiate optimal solutions, from traditional risk transfer to more specialized alternative risk and captive solutions.

Whether it’s stand-alone casualty coverage, a specialty product or a solution integrated with other product lines, our approach starts with a careful analysis of a client’s protection needs and opportunities for improvement.
