About Patrick
Patrick Thomas is Managing Director, Trucking at Howden U.S., bringing a near lifelong connection to the trucking industry and more than 18 years of experience across insurance brokerage, finance, and commercial risk advisory.
Patrick has built his career supporting trucking clients through multiple market cycles, including periods of significant economic disruption and shifting macroeconomic pressures. He believes the true value of insurance is proven during challenging moments—by showing up for clients, advocating on their behalf, and anticipating risk before it materializes. He often describes effective insurance and risk strategy as GPS for trucking businesses: enabling smarter decisions, navigating uncertainty, and keeping operations on course.
Prior to joining Howden, Patrick held senior leadership roles within the brokerage sector, including serving as president of an independent insurance brokerage and later as a regional managing partner. Earlier in his career, he worked as a sampling executive in the research sector, bringing a data‑driven perspective to his commercial expertise. His background includes longstanding experience advising middle‑market and specialty clients on risk strategy, coverage design, and long‑term resilience.
Patrick holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Finance and Business Management from City, University of London and the University of San Francisco. At Howden, he is focused on building a leading U.S. Trucking practice, serving motor carriers, owner-operators, fleets, and logistics providers. He will work closely with Howden’s retail and specialty teams to deliver tailored risk, insurance, and advisory solutions to clients across the trucking ecosystem.
