“From Breach to Resilience: Insights into Cyber Insurance Strategies”

 

On Friday, 7 March 2025, Howden Maxi Insurance Broker Co., Ltd. hosted a seminar titled “From Breach to Resilience: Insights into Cyber Insurance Strategies” at the Bangkok Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit. The event attracted more than 150 partners and clients, reflecting the growing awareness and concern within the business sector regarding the increasing severity of cyber threats.

The seminar was honored by the presence of Dr. Chayanan Kerdpholngam, Deputy Secretary-General for Strategy and Technology at the Office of the Insurance Commission (OIC), who joined the session to listen and exchange perspectives on cyber risk management approaches. The event opened with welcome remarks by Mr. Jittiwut Sasibutra, Chief Executive Officer of Howden Maxi Insurance Broker Co., Ltd. and President of the Thai Insurance Brokers Association, who emphasized the current landscape in which organizations of all sizes face cyber risks, as well as the importance of preventive measures and the use of insurance as a key tool in effective risk management.

The first session featured a presentation by Dr. Nimrod Kozlovski, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Cytactic, an Israeli-based company. He shared insights into cyber crisis management, emphasizing the importance of having a structured response plan and a team of experts capable of acting swiftly when unexpected incidents occur.

Meanwhile, Mr. Jean Bayon de la Tour, Head of Cyber – International at Howden (UK), delivered a session on “Global Cyber Risk.” He addressed the escalating trends in cyber threats, including ransomware attacks, data breaches, and technological changes that impact organizational security. He also highlighted the role of cyber insurance solutions in managing these risks and shared striking statistics indicating that Thailand ranks third in Asia for exposure to cyber threats.

In the panel discussion segment, experts from leading global organizations came together to exchange perspectives on cyber risk management strategies and preventive measures.

One panel, titled “Navigating the Risk Landscape,” featured Mr. Ajar Kumar from CrowdStrike and Mr. Sampat Dharmesh from Silverfort, with Mr. Mike Baker, Chief Client Officer of Howden Asia, serving as the moderator.

Another panel, “Building Cyber Resilience with Top-Tiered Insurance Companies,” brought together Mr. Christian Taube from Beazley and Mr. Karlis Trops from Allianz, and was moderated by Mr. Lawrence Chong, Head of Cyber at Howden Asia.

At the closing of the event, Dr. Chayanan Kerdpholngam presented souvenirs to all speakers as a token of appreciation, with Mr. Jittiwut Sasibutra joining the ceremony and the group photo session.

Throughout the seminar, the atmosphere was marked by active knowledge sharing and practical insights that participants could readily apply within their organizations. This underscored the critical importance of cyber risk management and the role of insurance in protecting organizations from digital-age threats.
