- Evacuation plans
Evacuation plans are used in situations of acute crisis, where the goal is to evacuate people as quickly as possible. Evacuation plans should ensure that everyone knows how to act if a critical situation arises, such as a fire. The plans may include:
Fire safety documentation is used to demonstrate which legislation a construction project is subject to and based on which requirements the fire safety level should be determined.
The fire safety documentation includes all forms of documentation related to fire protection of a given building. The documentation of a building's fire safety must demonstrate that the chosen fire safety solutions meet the building regulations or other requirements.
The complete and final fire safety documentation must be submitted upon completion of the construction to the municipality's building permit processing, and it must contain documentation of compliance with the regulations in the finished building.
The fire safety documentation may include the following to a relevant extent:
- Statement on whether the building is strategically traditional
- Documentation for placement in fire class
- Brand strategy report
- Brand plans, space allocation plans, occupancy plans, etc.
- Report on fire safety design
- Job description
- Control plan
- Control report
- Drift, control, and maintenance plan (DKV plan)
The extent of the fire safety documentation varies depending on the scope and complexity of the project.
DKV-plan
Why is a DKV plan prepared?
The purpose of the DKV plan is to document how fire safety for a building is expected to be maintained throughout the building's lifetime. It includes a description of how active and passive fire safety measures are continuously maintained and monitored after the building is put into use.
The DKV plan can typically include the following
- Fire safety drawings should show the building's passive and active fire protection measures, including escape routes, location of fire extinguishing equipment, fire department access routes, areas with flammable storage, etc.
- Fire safety documentation describes, among other things, structures, fire doors, fire alarm systems, automatic fire suppression systems, extinguishing equipment, fire compartmentation, etc.
- Organization and division of responsibilities describe the structure of the organization and the distribution of responsibilities in relation to preventive work and in specific fire situations.
- Fire drills and instructions include instructions from employees, presentations, and an overview of fire drills.
- Self-control for use by the owner/user of the building and which contributes to the daily passive and active fire protection.
- Risk management, including special conditions that may apply due to increased fire risk, such as hot work, use of open flame, deactivation of fire alarm systems, etc.
- The DKV plan documents how control and maintenance of building components and fire safety installations are carried out. The Building Regulations require that a DKV plan be prepared before certain building sections with enhanced requirements are put into use, which determines how the building's fire safety can be maintained throughout its lifespan. The DKV plan for these building sections must be approved by the authorities before the building is put into use.
Howden Risk Management, certified fire consultants, prepare the DKV plan in collaboration with the customer and it can be used by the company for prevention in relation to the operation and maintenance of the buildings either independently or as an extension of a fire strategy report.
ATEX
Explosive hazardous areas are places where there may be an explosive atmosphere in such quantities that it is necessary to take precautions to protect safety and health. An explosive atmosphere can occur with a mixture of air and flammable substances. The flammable substances can be in the form of gases, vapors, mists, or dust.
When is an ATEX (Atmosphere Explosible) assessment needed?
If a company has areas where flammable gases can ignite and create an explosion in a mixture with the oxygen in the air, the employer is obligated to inspect the company to identify, classify, and mark these so-called explosive hazardous areas. This can be, among other places, in connection with gas tanks, combustible dust from sawmills, and flammable vapors from spray booths.

Emergency plans
The emergency plan is a tool that management and employees can use if extraordinary events or accidents occur.
The emergency plan describes how a crisis situation should be handled. The emergency plan should be clear, action-oriented, and easily accessible.
At Howden Risk Management, Certified fire consultancy, we can help tailor the emergency plan specifically to your company.
Space allocation plans
Space distributions are drawings that visually provide an overview of local conditions. They are used to instruct guests, users, and customers on how spaces can be arranged with table setups, stages, etc., while still ensuring quick evacuation in case of, for example, a fire.
For rooms intended for 150 people or more, seating plans must be prepared showing the placement of furniture, mobile stages, stands, and similar items, taking into account the layout of escape routes and passages. The placement of hose reels and fire extinguishing equipment must also be shown on the seating plan.
Fire safety documentation
If you collaborate with us, we will ensure that you have fire safety in order.
At Risk Management, we prepare fire safety documentation for various purposes. If you want to ensure comprehensive documentation of fire safety conditions, these assessments can together constitute an overall statement, to be used for building applications.
A fire safety report assesses the use class, risk class, and ILK class as well as evaluations of the tactical intervention conditions in the project. The earlier the fire safety conditions are assessed in the process, the easier it is often to design in accordance with current requirements.
Hot work
Why is it important to know about hot work?
Insurance companies today impose a range of safety requirements when hot work is carried out. In certain cases, the insurance will not cover damages if the procedures are not followed.
Hot work includes all work where there is a risk of ignition of building components or where work is done with tools that create a risk of fire.
Hot work refers to work processes where flames, sparks, and flammable heating or heat-generating tools are used or produced, for example in connection with cutting, welding, or working with angle grinders or other electrical tools.
Howden Risk Management, certified fire consultancy, helps the customer describe the rules and work procedures necessary for hot work.
Evacuation plans
Evacuation plans are used in situations of acute crisis, where the goal is to evacuate people as quickly as possible. Evacuation plans should ensure that everyone knows how to act if a critical situation arises, such as a fire. The plans may include identification of assembly points, description of escape routes, information about emergency services access routes, guide to securing buildings, etc.
