The Howden Employment Seminars: We’ll meet again…

It’s a measure of just how surreal the last few weeks have been that last month Dame Vera Lynne (the “forces sweetheart” from World War II) achieved the top download position on the iTunes chart at the tender age of just 103 years young.

Of course there are many reasons for this success, with isolation, social distancing, and support for NHS Charities all being significant factors in the song’s unexpected revival and success.  Or perhaps it’s just because the song is uplifting, and promises a return to the good times ahead?

This promise of future meetings in happier times also provides me with an excellent (if rather glib) opportunity to link Dame Vera’s positive message to some of the communication tools that the Howden Employee Benefits & Wellbeing (HEBW) team have made available to support Human Resources professionals during this continued period of lockdown uncertainty.  So let’s take a look at each of the options available:

The Howden Employment Seminars

Firstly – and probably most importantly to many of our readers – I would like to update you on the latest plans around the Howden Employment Seminars.

These fun and informative events have proved hugely popular with Human Resources, Finance, and Payroll professionals, but sadly we had to postpone our first event of 2020 as it coincided with the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic in the UK.  We are aware that the postponement disappointed many of the 200+ delegates who had reserved a place for the event, and indeed it was deeply regrettable.  But I know that we made the right decision in putting the health and wellbeing of our delegates, speakers, suppliers, and team first.

Of course the Howden Employment Seminars will return; it’s just a question of timing really.

We were hoping to restage the event before the summer holiday season, but the on-going pandemic means that this would probably still be ambitious.  So we are now looking for an early autumn return to action.  Please look out for future announcements regarding the new seminar date.

In the meantime, if you would like to register your interest in attending our future events, please contact Gina Ellis ([email protected]).

The Howden Employee Benefits & Wellbeing COVID-19 Hub

It’s also worth reminding our followers that in early March we launched the HEBW Coronavirus Hub, which has all the latest information on the fast-evolving COVID-19 situation, and how it is affecting employee benefits provision.

We continue to regularly update the hub, and employers of all sizes – and all sectors – will find the information of use.

The Howden Employee Benefits & Wellbeing Blog

Earlier this year we launched the Howden Employee Benefits & Wellbeing HR Blog, which features regular updates on a variety of important subjects for Human Resources professionals.

It’s also worth keeping an eye-open for our monthly round-up of news clippings featuring the HEBW team.  This captures most of the stories and press releases that we have been involved with, covering many of the key topics of the moment.  A recent example of this service can be found here.

My “Employer News” Blog

And then there is my monthly (ish) column for the Employer News website, which generally features longer and more conversational items that might be of interest to employers of all sizes, and Human Resources professionals in particular.

There is a growing library of (hopefully) useful items dating back to the end of 2018 also available.  My column can be found via this link.

Webinars

Finally, and not least, we are currently looking at the options for delivering some of our workshops remotely in webinar format.  We will update our followers on this soon.

We’ll meet again…

In summary, despite the challenges of the moment the HEBW team is still seeking to provide the information and support that employers need, and we remain ready and willing to support our clients and their employees at this very difficult time.

I would again confirm that the seminars and workshops will be back just as soon as it is safe and sensible to restage them.  In the meantime;

“We'll meet again
Don't know where
Don't know when
But I know we'll meet again some sunny day
Keep smiling through
Just like you always do
'Till the blue skies drive the dark clouds far away”
