The Care Show, Birmingham

Our Social Care team recently had the pleasure of attending  the Care Show, Birmingham; providing us with a fantastic opportunity to connect with sector professionals and share insights. It was particularly exciting to be located near one of our key partners, The Outstanding Society, whose Learning Lounge was one of the busiest and most attended areas over the two days at the Show. Their engagement with the audience highlighted the importance of the work we do with all of our industry partners and how we support them to deliver excellence across the care sector.

We had conversations with numerous delegates, and a recurring topic was the increasing competitiveness within the care insurance market. This increased competitiveness is having a positive impact on the care sector, providing businesses with competitive premiums and comprehensive cover. This is why we received such great feedback when we shared the details of our exclusive partnership with Allied World Assurance Company (AWAC).  AWAC has been very well received in the sector, offering coverage to a broad range of care providers, including residential and nursing homes, domiciliary care agencies, supported living services, rehabilitation centres, and hospice providers.

In addition to these discussions, we were also honoured to participate in two expert panels hosted in The Outstanding Society’s Learning Lounge. Our Senior Account Manager, Ed Farthing, contributed to a Q&A session on emerging risks in the care sector, with a particular focus on cybersecurity threats. This topic generated a lot of interest, as many providers expressed concerns about the value and necessity of cyber insurance. We emphasised the growing importance of cybersecurity, noting that health and social care is one of the most targeted sectors. The disruption caused by a cyber-attack can be significant, making it essential for care providers to be proactive in mitigating these risks.

On day two of the show, our Associate Director, Sabrina Meetaroo participated in a panel discussing how care homes can enhance their clinical governance through effective data management. The discussion centred around the importance of data security and management in the care sector, and the potential risks posed by inadequate or outdated systems. With increasing reliance on digital systems, ensuring robust data protection has become more critical than ever. Sabrina provided valuable insights into how providers can strengthen their data management practices to protect sensitive information and improve overall governance.

During the event we also co-hosted a drinks reception with The Outstanding Society. Providing a great opportunity to wind down and reflect on the challenges facing the care sector and the important role effective risk management plays to ensure the success of care home businesses.

In my opinion, The Care Show, Birmingham was a resounding success for us, and we are grateful for the opportunity to engage with so many professionals who are passionate about driving the care sector forward. We can’t wait to return next year and continue supporting the sector through our partnerships and services. If you missed us at the show, please get in touch so we can discuss how we can support your business, or if you’re attending the next Care Show then come and say hello to our team.
