Universities and college insurance FAQs
Repatriation in travel insurance is when a someone returns to their home country if they become ill, have an accident, or die in the country they are visiting. Most often, this happens when the student needs medical treatment.
Costs for repatriation can be high as it usually means a medical escort (such as a nurse or doctor), air ambulance, and hospital expenses.
It can be hard for international students studying in the UK to get travel insurance which would include repatriation. That’s why we offer medical evacuation and repatriation insurance to colleges and universities to cover their international students.
Yes. It’s not just your international students you need to take care of. From your physical premises to staff liabilities, we can build customisable cover around your commercial risks. This can include:
Public liability insurance
Covers legal and compensation costs if a third party (such as a visitor) becomes ill, injured, or dies, or their property is damaged, and they blame your establishment.
Employers’ liability insurance
This pays legal defence costs and any settlements (including medical expenses) if an employee has a work-related illness or injury and claims against you.
Business interruption insurance
If an unexpected event stops you from functioning as usual, this can help cover lost revenue and increased expenses.
Professional indemnity insurance
Protection for professional mistakes made by your establishment. This covers legal defence and any compensation costs awarded.
Directors’ and officers’ insurance
Cover for key figures, such as senior management, if they’re accused of wrongful acts. This includes breach of trust or duty and breach of health and safety legislation.
Cyber insurance
Offers financial protection and incident response before, during, and after cyber incidents.
Legal expenses insurance
Covers the cost of legal advice and proceedings if you need to pursue a claim or defend yourself against a claim.
Business travel insurance
Cover for you and your colleagues on business trips. Includes emergency medical expenses, repatriation, cancellation, delay, personal liability, and loss of money. We’ll also be on hand for expert risk support to help make your learning environment a compliant, safe place to be.
We can offer a range of cover for international education providers, including:
- Course fee protection if a student can’t pay their contractual fees due to an unforeseen event.
- Personal liability to protect students (and your organisation’s reputation) if they cause accidental injury to a third party or damage to someone else’s property.
- Personal accident, which covers students if they have an accident that causes permanent bodily injury or death while studying in the UK.
- Sports and activities cover for over 100 sports and activities arranged by your organisation.
- Extended cover for trips for up to 21 days for leisure trips across Europe (or anywhere in the world if it’s part of the student’s course).
