Protection for your college or university

We’ll work closely with you to find insurance that protects everything you need it to protect, in line with your budget. This includes a full review of your existing policies and spotting any cover gaps.

From trips on cables to injuries from equipment, plenty can go wrong on your premises. Public liability insurance covers legal and compensation costs such as medical fees if a third party becomes ill, is injured, or dies, or their property is damaged. This includes claims from parents, students, and visitors.

If your university or college or its staff are accused of breach of duty or other mistake at work, this insurance can cover legal defence and compensation costs.

This covers legal defence and compensation costs if someone you employ has a work-related illness or injury and claims against your establishment.

It includes staff, governors, volunteers, and trainees. You need this cover by law if you employ anyone.

This provides protection for key figures such as members of the board, trustees, and officers, if they’re accused of wrongful acts. Decisions and actions covered include breach of trust or duty and breach of health and safety legislation, for example.

This covers the cost of rebuild, repairs, or replacements after an unexpected event (such as a fire, flood, or a storm) damages your building or belongings.

Buildings insurance is for the physical structure, and contents insurance can cover anything from kitchen equipment to common room furniture.

Policies can also cover theft and malicious damage, accidental damage, and building subsidence. Key apparatus such as audio-visual equipment, computers, and office machinery can be included.

This covers breakdown of machinery and business interruption, including when you’re moving computer equipment from one site to another. It can also cover statutory inspection services.

This covers your vehicles, such as minibuses, for accidents or loss, plus occasional business use for staff using their own vehicles on school business.

This offers protection against claims relating to building works under construction on your premises. If something goes wrong, it can cover damage or loss of property and materials.

If an unexpected event – such as a fire or a flood – stops your establishment from functioning as usual, this helps cover lost revenue and expenses until you’re back up and running. Extra expenses it could cover include replacing equipment, training staff, and hiring other premises.

This provides financial protection and incident management if a cyber event – like malware, phishing scams, or hackers – leads to unauthorised access of data and disrupts your operations.

Universities and college insurance FAQs

Repatriation in travel insurance is when a someone returns to their home country if they become ill, have an accident, or die in the country they are visiting. Most often, this happens when the student needs medical treatment.

Costs for repatriation can be high as it usually means a medical escort (such as a nurse or doctor), air ambulance, and hospital expenses.

It can be hard for international students studying in the UK to get travel insurance which would include repatriation. That’s why we offer medical evacuation and repatriation insurance to colleges and universities to cover their international students.
