Name: Greg Dodds
Role: Divisional Director for the International Team, Professional Indemnity Division
Time at Howden: 9 years

What do you do?

I manage the International Team, helping our insurance broker clients in Australia, Canada, and around the world to place cover they can’t offer themselves. Our clients come to us for our reputation and service, and because we can combine presence in specific target markets with expertise and sector understanding across the globe.

What is your favourite part of your role?

The enjoyment I take from my job is the team’s solution finding for our clients. When your client is 10,000 miles away and phones you to say how happy they are with the result and service you and your team provided, it’s a great feeling. I also love travelling and doing business with people around the world.

How would you describe the culture at Howden?

Howden has a culture of ‘the more you put into people, the more they give back’. I’ve had the opportunity to do different courses while I’ve been here, and was recently invited to take part in a People Leadership course. We don’t have a traditional career ladder here – people are free to choose what they want for their future, and we will support them to work towards it.

What do you look for in new recruits?

You can’t be insular here. Howden is a very collaborative environment, and our people support each other to achieve more. If you are willing to stretch yourself, you can grow within the company. I look for people who are entrepreneurial and inclusive – team players who enjoy being part of something.
